The mission of Foothills Running & Cycling Club is to promote individual physical fitness and sport knowledge through a wide variety of running and cycling events, all in a supportive, family-friendly group environment.
Spearheaded by Dan Dwyer of Golden (Colorado), Foothills Running and Cycling Club (FRCC) was born in March 2010 by a group of local runners and cyclists seeking training partners and friends who pursue a healthy, fit lifestyle. A steering committee was formed after more than 70 people came out to the first organizational gathering, a testament to the need for the club. FRCC was officially launched May 13, 2010, and offers a steady stream of regular runs and rides as well as special events throughout the year.
Why join FRCC? “It’s difficult to find a group of people with such common interests. It’s also difficult to find a group of people like this group where your personal fitness is not out of the ordinary. This club brings friendship and challenge. It’s a safe place where a 10 mile run is an everyday thing along with a 2 or 3 hour bike ride. I think I enjoy this group the most because it is a group of friends who share great fitness goals along with the desire to have fun, socialize and be friends.” — Christine Hoppe
